UPM HOSTS TRILATERAL DISCUSSION WITH KYUTECH AND UNIVERSITY OF LORRAINE

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) recently hosted a prestigious discussion involving trilateral cooperation with the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech) and the University of Lorraine, France. The meeting, on October 20, 2023, aimed to discuss collaboration in academic programs, research, student mobility, and staff exchanges among these three prominent institutions.

The idea for this trilateral cooperation emerged during discussions between Kyutech and the University of Lorraine in July 2023 in France. The University of Lorraine aspired to expand the Japan-France partnership by involving UPM as a key partner. It also wanted to collaborate closely with Kyutech and explore trilateral cooperation with UPM. The purpose of this visit was to explore potential collaborative initiatives among the three (3) universities.

Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), chaired the discussion session. Ms. Nathalie Fick, Head of the International Relations Office at the University of Lorraine, joined the discussion alongside representatives from Kyutech, Associate Prof. Dr. Yoshito Ando, and Mr. Toshiro Wakabayashi. UPM was represented by Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Prof. Dr. Ariffin Abdu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), and representatives from the Research Management Centre and entities under the Academic and International Affairs Office. The focus of this collaboration was on academic programs, research, student mobility, and staff mobility.

This trilateral cooperation is expected to create significant opportunities for academic collaboration, strengthen partnerships between the institutions, foster joint growth and development, and expand the learning experiences and cultural enhancement for students and staff from the three countries."
